At work Trev has been working on this fish barrier project for quite a while now. He helped install it in California last month and now it is making state news. Way to go Trevor! You can check out this link to see the newscast. It is called a non-physical fish barrier, and it uses fish behavior modification rather than an actual wall. Genius. Basically it is a wall of bubbles and strob lights and speakers that interact to scare the salmon away. It is a big deal because it helps protect the endangered chinook salmon but doesn't harm the ecosystem or the other fish. I think I'm going to make a lesson plan on this one, it is totally awesome.
